on-line dating

I have met someone online, I like him and he says he likes me. Then problem is that I want to arrange a proper coffee date as he could not make my last minute offer. But how do I go about doing this? I have never asked anyone out on  a date in my life before...

I worry if I don't ask, he will lose interest, but I don't want to appear desperate or needy...

Advice needed...

    If you like him then you should have coffee with him so that you can make out that is just an attraction or something more than that.......Do not hesitate......
